In this series of helpful blog posts, commonly called a 101, I will be taking a look at the main sections of ISO 9001, what they are, why they are important to your business and a few tips on how to implement the standard ...

This 101 is looking into Section 10.1 Improvement. Why is this important to my business? No business or person is perfect as I am sure you would agree? So we all need to improve. Not to make ourselves perfect (as that not achievable), but to make things better for ourselves and others.
"Make things better so you, your employees and your business are more productive, more skilled and more financially successful in the long term!"
I believe this helps everyone be happier too! If we are aiming to be the best version of ourselves we feel great and we can all do that by improving ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally. It is the same with businesses. If a business is run well then it is much more of a happier place to work.
How do I do this? Well, there are 3 main ways to conduct improvements according to ISO 9001:
Avoiding the recurrence of nonconformities
Small changes that are ongoing
Big improvement projects and initiatives
We will look at each of these 3 areas in the next few blog posts as they are huge topics in their own right.
You may be asking though, what do I improve on because the standard does not tell you that. What gives you the best ideas for improvements can be gleaned from the context of your organisation which I talked about in this blog post.
You can also keep track of employee suggestions for improvements, customer satisfaction, comments and outcomes of the management reviews.
How do I manage this? You can use software to record all your improvement ideas and move them forward and keep track of them. Personally, I use Teamwork Project Management software to keep all my business improvement projects and ideas in, share them with team members and keep a track of all the actions make sure they get done.
Until next time ...
